Welcome to Altadena
With a name that means ‘Upper Dena’ in Spanish, Altadena rises above the city of Pasadena into the San Gabriel Mountains. While Pasadena is directly adjacent and downtown Los Angeles is just 14 miles away, Altadena provides the impression of being ensconced within nature, as it is flanked by the immense 700,000-acre Angeles National Forest.
Many trails wind through the San Gabriel Mountains from Altadena, with sights including an abundance of lakes and peaks, as well as the breathtaking 190-acre Eaton Canyon. With a wonderfully warm Mediterranean climate, there are plenty of opportunities for Altadena residents to get out and explore the majestic nature on their doorstop.
Each December, 134 enormous deodar trees along Santa Rosa Avenue are illuminated, earning it the name Christmas Tree Lane. With these trees here lit up each Christmas since 1920, this is the oldest public illuminations display in the United States, listed on both the National Register of Historic Places and a California Historical Landmark.
AN OASIS OF LUXURY
Altadena’s real estate includes extravagant and elaborate architecture spanning a range of architectural properties. There are properties dating back to the 19th Century, boasting incredible opulence in both size and interior design. With grand English manors and exclusive gated communities such as La Vina, Altadena is a haven of luxury real estate and opulence.
Expansive lots are dotted with flower gardens, citrus and olive trees, palm trees, and mature deodar cedars. Bespoke design features abound across Altadena’s enormous lots, including unique flourishes such as exotic bird aviaries. Expect exquisite attention to detail throughout the home, along with large windows providing captivating vistas over Eaton Canyon and the San Gabriel Mountains.
The refined member-owned Altadena Town & Country Club is one of the community’s most beloved institutions. The 27,000-square-foot clubhouse contains a variety of lounges and dining options, while the club’s first-class amenities include tennis, swimming, and fitness facilities.
The historic Altadena Golf Course is adjacent to the exclusive Town & Country Club. For more than a century, this golf course has offered two 9-hole courses against the stunning backdrop of the San Gabriel Mountains.
